Steps to Apply - Overseas Applicants

Sri Lankans living overseas can now check the availability of their birth, marriage or death certificates online.

Submit your request through the eBMD portal to the relevant Sri Lankan mission and you will be notified by email regarding the availability status of your certificate.

• Fill in the application – Enter accurate details related to the birth, marriage, or death certificate you are requesting.
• If the requested certificate is found in the eBMD system, you will receive a confirmation email with further instructions to visit your Mission office.
• Payments can only be made only at the Embassy or Mission; no online payment for overseas applicants.
• Certificates are issued as physical documents only and cannot be emailed or sent digitally under any circumstances.
